I had the same problems, Vendrick is almost synonim of rolling constantly and I wasnt used that much to it against bosses. This is obviously but I see that the time to complete a roll in a light armor than using a medium armor is about 1.0-1.5 seconds faster, this makes that when you finish the roll animation you stamina bar will start refilling faster and with that you can conserve and generate more stamina for rolling and attacking. Dark Souls 2 has plenty of weapons to choose from. My mistake was in the armor that I was using.
