But the light weight yields plenty of resonance and, although the pickups are quite low in output, there's no doubting the Fender flavour here. SoundsĬoming from a Telecaster to the Duo-Sonic it does feel a little toy-like and really needs a minimum of 0.010s, preferably 0.011s. Medium gauge frets are cleanly installed and polished (there's a little gap under one end which should have been spotted) and the untinted maple finish, which matches the desert sand, is perfectly done without the sometimes over-thick feel of a lacquered maple fingerboard.Ī small point but we have a modern truss rod access behind the nut, which is a lot easier to adjust than the vintage end-of-the-neck style. While not vintage accurate it is superb, with a wide 'C' profile that feels 'right' from the off.

Stellar neckīut we've left the best until last: the neck. The tuners are standard split-post vintage types and the 'student' cream plastic buttons suit the guitar. However, they are not as accurate as a Strat's individual saddles. There's no vibrato, but the top-load bridge is efficient with three saddles that, like a Tele's, are adjustable for height and intonation. Likewise the brushed aluminium scratchplate - a deeper gold than the originals and hopefully the anodising is more robust - that holds the two cream covered single-coils, Tele-knobbed volume and tone, the output socket and a robust feeling three-way toggle pickup selector on the treble-side horn. It may be manufactured in China but its finish takes you straight back to 1950s America. The Duo-Sonic features a really good desert sand finish over a thinner 38mm thick basswood body (with rear belly contour), that is more opaque than the original blonde. The fundamental difference is that, sensibly, the scale length is increased to 24-inches (the same as the Jaguar), and we have a different name on the headstock, but it has vintage vibe in spades. THANK YOU.But of the range, this Duo-Sonic really does a very good job of nailing the original design. I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS, I DON’T LIKE IT EITHER, BUT THE ODDS OF SOMEONE OVERSEAS PURCHASING THIS AND ACTUALLY RECEIVING IT ARE BASICALLY ZERO. Thanks for looking! ATTENTION: DUE TO CURRENT INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING RESTRICTIONS INVOLVING ITEMS WITH CERTAIN KINDS OF WOOD, THIS GUITAR IS NOT BEING OFFERED TO ANYONE OUTSIDE THE U.S. Please ask any questions, happy to answer whatever you need to know.

maybe you want to do some mods of your own and still have the option to go back to original? I am also including a very good condition, vintage 1960’s Hardshell Case that is made for the smaller Mustangs and Musicmasters etc. I am including a spare loaded pickguard that is perfect. Tons of cool 90’s vibe, smooth neck, great sound. Guitar is overall in above average condition. There are a few nicks and blemishes on the butt of the body. The pickup is the original, black ‘Vista Tone’ humbucker, and has the fun, push/pull coil tap that works perfect. All electronics are also original and perfect. Wish I had this done to my first Vista Musicmaster that I had years ago. The neck feels way better than it did stock. It was set up with Ernie Ball Reg Slinky 9’s.

This guitar just recently received a professional neck re-fret, and complete re-string and set up from the world famous House of Guitars in Rochester NY. This was a $250 service, I will include the receipt. I have owned this guitar for about 8 years, and it has been one of my semi-regular player guitars.

So they took the loss, and cancelled the Musicmaster for the remainder of the Vista Series run. This guitar plays and sounds excellent. They would have had to price them substantially higher than other Vista models. They cost too much to make, and by the time Fender realized they weren’t going to profit off them, it was too late. The reason for this was that the Musicmasters, despite being Chinese made, were of such high quality, that Fender couldn’t crunch the numbers enough to make it a successful part of the cheap, beginner, Vista Series. While the other models in the series were produced for 2-3 years, the Musicmaster guitar and bass were only made for 1. Some quick history about this oddball guitar- It was part of Fender’s short lived, late 1990’s Squier Vista Series.

Desirable Seafoam Green, with matching headstock, White 3-ply Pickguard. Here for sale is my very rare, 1997 Squier Vista Series Musicmaster.
